The pack adds the Ferrari F150, Ferrari’s current Formula One challenger, as well as the Ferrari F458 Challenge car to the netKar Pro-powered simulation.

The F150 comes with full simulation of DRS and KERS, the pack does not add any new tracks or other features though. The Virtual Academy only offers hot lapping as the title features no AI or online mod to race against other players.

Ferrari Virtual Academy – F150 & F458

Friday, October 07, 2011

Ferrari released an official simulator of their F10 Formula One car based on netKar Pro and equipped with up to three laser-scanned tracks.

The simulation, which was part of a hot lap contest that gave the most talented players the chance to prove themselves in a real race car, was met with universal acclaim, featuring great graphics, spot on physics and great Force Feedback.

Now, Ferrari is reviving the product by releasing the so-called “Adrenaline Pack” which will introduce the current F150 Formula One car as well as the Ferrari F458 Challenge car to the title. Below are four teaser images, showing some wireframe shots of the upcoming cars.

Pricing of the pack and its release date have not been announced yet, players who have missed out on the Virtual Academy can check out the VirtualR review here, the complete pack of existing content featuring Fiorano, Mugello and the Nürburgring now sells for 14.90€.

And if you´re interested to see what the winners of the hot lap competition experienced, there’s a story on that as well. It’s unknown whether the release of the content pack will also kick off a similar competition.

Ferrari Virtual Academy Winners On Track

Saturday, April 23, 2011

Last fall, Ferrari surprised everyone with the release of their excellent, netKar Pro-based, Virtual Academy simulator that allowed players to drive the Ferrari F10 Formula One car on three laser-scanned tracks.

As you may remember, the title came with an online hotlap-competition that would allow the quickest drivers to visit Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters. Over 20.000 drivers submitted laptimes for the competition and five drivers were quick enough to win a trip to Italy as Italians David Greco and Matteo Vecchioni, Spaniard Jon Tanko, German Martin Kronke and Portugal’s Jao Nunes got to enjoy the big prize.

The five driving talents arrived in Maranello where they got to try Ferrari’s professional-grade Formula One simulator before it got even better as they got to prove themselves in a real Formula Abarth open-wheeler at Fiorano.

For all of us less fortunate, the Virtual Academy is still up and running, the complete package including all three tracks now sells for 14.90€. It will be interesting to see how long Ferrari keeps the simulation up and running, since the software connects to the Internet to work buyers won’t be able to drive anymore once Ferrari decides to shut the title down.

Need for Speed Shift – Ferrari DLC Preview Video

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

EA & Slightly Mad Studios will be released the Ferrari Racing Series download-content pack for the Xbox 360 version of Need for Speed Shift, adding ten Ferrari sports cars to the game.

The pack will include the Ferrari FXX, the California,  the 599 GTB Fiorano, the F50 GT and the F430 as well as other Ferrari road cars. Furthermore, the pack will add the Ferrari World Tour to the game’s career mode.

Unfortunately, all of this will be limited to the Xbox 360 version of Shift as the DLC won’t be available for the PC and Playstation 3 versions. As explained by Ferrari, this decision is due to the fact that EA owns no license to produce Ferrari-content for the PC and Playstation 3 versions of the game.

The Xbox version of the pack is made possible thanks to a sub-license with Microsoft, limiting the pack to their platform.
