iRacing.com – Mclaren MP4-12C Announced

Thursday, September 22, 2011

iRacing.com has announced the newest addition to the lineup of cars in their online racing simulation as the Mclaren MP4-12C GT3 sports car will be available to subscribers in 2012.

iRacing’s partnership with Mclaren started in May when the online racing simulation gave their subscribers access to the ATLAS Express data analysis software developed by Mclaren. Now, iRacing subscribers will get their hands on a virtual version of the company’s newest sports car racer.

Powered by a 3.8 liter V8 bi-turbo engine, the MP4-12C is build to the FIA GT3 regulations based on the MP4-12C road car. The car made its competition debut in the British GT Championship earlier this year and went on to compete in various events, including the Spa 24 Hours race.

The car became an instant success as all 20 cars built for the 2012 season have already been sold to customers.

The addition of the MP4-12C broadens iRacing sports car racing content, giving subscribers access to cars from all three major GT classes as the Mclaren joins the GT1-class Corvette C6.R and the Ford GT-R GT2 class car.

Mclaren Formula One Simulator – Video

Friday, February 25, 2011

A new video released by McLaren shows off their state of the art Formula One simulator, one of the most sophisticated simulators in Formula One.

Even though its primary use is helping the McLaren Formula One team fight for the world championship, the simulator was also used during the development of McLaren’s MP4-12C super-car as explained in the video.

Sadly, the video does not reveal which software is used as a base for the simulator, by the looks of the graphics McLaren isn’t one of the teams using rFactor Pro for their setup. Watch the video below and take a guess yourself.

This is a post from Virtualr  (Editors note:  I know where the software is from and its not the northern hemisphere.  It is a custom built and closely guarded software suite.  The simulator had a huge price tag over it's development period.  The telemetry modeling when it was created was very special along with the advanced GPS technology.  Probably said too much already :-) David)
