 The holidays are commonly known as a busy travel season, so for anyone getting on an airplane soon or prepping a road trip, it would be good topoint out that Firemint’s Real Racing 2 hit the app store this week and is now available for purchase for iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad. Firemint is working on an iPad-specific adaptation that will release sometime in 2011. The current version will run on iPad, but it isn’t optimized for the bigger screen. The price point clocks in at $9.99 which is much higher than most games and applications you’ll find in Apple’s overstuffed store, the quality of the application is also readily apparent. For overseas racers you’ll find the game priced at £5.99, €7.99, AU$12.99 and ¥1200 based on your location. If you’re curious about the space it takes up on your device this simulator clocks in at 312mb. |
If anyone is already speeding around the handheld raceways in the game, let us know how the 16 car multiplayer handles. The iOS has never seen a multiplayer option that big, so I’m curious to see how it handles in action. The handheld racer had a budget of $2 million, had the help of 38 employees and has been in development for 18 months.
The game features 30 licensed cars, 15 locations with over 40 miles of track, and up to 16 player online racing, which the developer claims is an iOS first.
